Blog Post: Health Care Benefits
posted Monday, May 19, 2008 1:10 PM
The health care professional community sits idol waiting for the gravy train - "State Funding" to sprinkle their magic ferry dust over Florida and decide which benefits we can keep and which they will cut, strip or terminate. Social services in our state are constantly being modified as if their is some other means to pay for these services! No means exist, instead social service workers are overwhelmed by burn out. Instead thousands are going without and we look the other way from helping those that are not able to help themselves.
Until Now! Florida Assisted Living Coalition, is making a dash effort to save the planet! No not really, but make a difference in our society by minding the gap and rescuing those who are falling between the cracks. While others are crying call your legislators, this group is not waiting around for the parting of the sea and are rolling up their sleeves to help FLORIDA. The group started a Community Outreach Initiative. Now Seniors/Disabled can get help or guidance with whatever their medical issue by just sending an email. Family members, friends, social service agencies alike can send an email to outreachFALC@aol.com and within 48 hours a valid response is provided to any question, a concise answer and a flicker of hope can restore ones faith in our FLORIDA. The Outreach Program is available in these select markets; Tampa, Port St. Lucie, Palm Beach, Broward, Miami, Naples & Fort Myers. Isn't it great that a group of health care professionals right in our own back yard have come together to help other less fortunate seniors and disabled adults? Services include helping to connect seniors with a food bank/hot meal while waiting for stamps or a meals program. FALC can see that a doctor visits the home of a sick, frail home bound senior or a senior just home from the hospital after surgery needing nursing care or help bathing. The organization also helps eligible navigate the system to obtain Veteran/Spouse or disabled children of Veteran benefits ranging from $998 - $1554 a month. We don't have to look at the sad eyes of the children & the hunger in Cambodia, we don't have to see the sick and dying in Africa, we don't have to explore the poverty in Peru - the sadness, the poverty, the sick, the hungry and dying are all right here in Florida. FALC has stepped up to the plate and needs everyone to help pitch in & work toward bringing benefits to people who don't realize they are entitled. Supporting our own children whose parents are not working and the food stamps don't cover the needs of their family. The single mothers who cannot effort health insurance and are dealing with life threatening illnesses without means to pay for medicine or receive needed care. The dying, wasting away from untreated illnesses all in our own backyard all untreated and all needing help... I have watched, we have waited and it doesn't seem to be happening. Well its time to take the bull by the horns and say enough. Lets support our own community as a coalition we can help more people in more places. Florida Assisted Living Coalition, we need to assist because we have already proven we cannot do it alone. FLORIDA residents EMAIL outreachFALC@aol.com Florida Assisted Living Coalition, (FALC) is a non political organization. They are a subdivision of SBI and a 501c3. It appears Florida, Texas, California suffer as the immigrant playground. The growing issue of illegal immigrants living in the United States is extremely high and we take a blind eye to the problems. I recommend changing our policy and not excusing aliens from communist countries to remain on our soil. Those who are already here, grand frather them as "residents". Immigrants would be subject to paying a moderately higher income tax and state tax, since these individuals are a significant burden to our welfare systems. There tax would be imposed for the first 5 years, which would be far cheaper than those individuals going through the motions of becoming legal residents and paying for attorney's fees. Let us face it the only one making money with our immigrant situation in the U.S. are the attorney's...
It was announced at The Florida Assisted Living Association conference 35 miles outside of the town of St. Augustine that the isolated location was selected by the organizations President, Brian Borbar because it is his "golfers disney world" the other 200 attendees, didn't appreciate having to drive outside on the pitch black highway at night to find there way to and from the town, nor could the 200 attendees afford the $70.00 cab ride r/t. FALA should use their money to help the community like Florida Assisted Living Coalition, FALC. Every dollar is used for the benefit of FALC.
I really think Florida Assisted Living Coalition is a wonderful organization. My cousin Sandra needed some more diapers and was on a fixed income. The gang at FALC got involved and they found that diapers that I paid retain for at Walgreens could be purchased from a distributor for 2/3 cheaper then what I was paying retail. Also when it came time for me to find a retirement home for my mother, Florida Assisted Living Coalition helped me find a beautiful place in Fort Myers, Florida. We are so fortunate to have an organization that helps all of Florida from South to West to North it is a good thing. Thank you
The conference has a special deal with the hotel and charges only $139 for Ocean front. I never had that in my life a ocean view room. I spoke to Deby in the office at FALC and she told me I can also attend their ICON Award and hear Elizabeth Hogue their Keynote Speaker who is really well known. the ICON Reception and Keynote is July 6th at the Hotel. The conference and the meals info is on their website at www.floridaassistedlivingcoalition.com and the folks are very accommodating. I can't wait to attend it should be fun and interesting....
