Blog Post: Dress to impress for ANY job interview - even massage therapy!
posted Tuesday, June 10, 2008 5:03 PM
At Body Well we have a steady stream of licensed massage therapist candidates coming through seeking work with our managed massage therapy agency, which provides mobile in home massage and chair massage in Miami, Broward and Palm Beach. Many seem to be under the presumption that since we are not a "white collar" industry and massage therapy is all about relaxation, that it is OK to be casual when interviewing with us.
While we certainly do not expect someone to show up in a business suit when applying as a massage therapist, it is definitely nice to see that someone made an effort to make a nice presentation. Nothing fancy - if not something simple like a collared shirt and khakis, even medical "scrubs" or a uniform one might expect at a spa are perfectly fine. On the contrary, when someone shows up wearing something they might wear while practicing massage with a friend or sitting at home watching television, that does not help their cause. The bottom line: it's never a good idea to assume that just because an industry is known for being laid back or non-corporate that you don't still need to dress to impress!
