Blog Post: 2008 National SHRM Conference - Great Minds, Great Times

Just arrived from the National SHRM Conference. What an incredible experience! With over 13,000 participants, 750 or more exhibitors and a conference program that seemed like an encyclopedia volume, the conference was packed with surprises, phenomenal speakers, engaging presentations, colleagues from all over the world, best practices, and practical sessions for all hr level professionals to name a few. With so many interesting presentations, it was hard to select the ones to attend.

I am always fascinated with how well orchestrated these huge events are. From signage to volunteers, it seems that almost every possible angle is covered in order to make the conference experience a meaningful one for everyone.

In Jobing.com style, human resources professionals from throughout the country enjoyed the food, entertainment and of course, the Jobing.com hospitality at the Navy Pier on Monday night. The South Florida HR Community came together at the Rooftop of the Navy Pier for a great networking event. In partnership with the local SHRM Chapters, Jobing.com hosted a VIP Event to Celebrate the HR Community. Chicago is not necessarily around the corner from Miami. However, I was thrilled to see some of our colleagues there. The spectacular view of downtown Chicago pair with the beautiful weather was the perfect setting for salsa dancing classes. And yes, we had a lot of fun. Needless to say, the celebration was marked by a beautiful fireworks display at sun down. Many thanks to GMSHRM, HRABC, HRPBC and ASTD chapter - our South Florida partners in the event.

Being in Chicago added a special twist to the celebration. It history, architecture, music and beautiful summer weather were just a beautiful canvas for the 60th Annual SHRM Conference and Exposition.
