Blog Post: Is your grande caramel frapuccino safe?
posted Thursday, July 31, 2008 12:26 PM
Driving to the office this morning, NPR radio aired a segment that got me thinking. Apparently, certain communities are protesting the closing of Startbucks in their area. Why is Starbucks so impactful? I love my coffee in the morning as much as any other person. However, the $4 plus per coffee drink quickly helped me modify my coffee habits.
However, the issue at heart of this mornings' program was the impact of the brand in those communities. Can you believe it? Apparently, having a Starbucks in your neck of the woods is also a positive sign of affluence, development and posibilities for that neighborhood. Hard to believe that a grande latte has become a status symbol. Having a Starbucks in the neighborhood does impact the marketability of properties, according to some. This goes to prove that the impact of a brand can never be understated. Will your decaf mocha frapuccino be safe? The company recently published a list of the store closures. Thankfully for those of use who live in Miami, there are still plenty of awesome local coffee shops to keep the caffeine levels at ease. And who knows! We may even get surprised by a "Free Wi-Fi" La Carreta or Sergio's on the near future.
