Blog Post: Registered Nurse "RN" the fastest growing opportunity for all occupations through 2016
posted Monday, July 20, 2009 3:19 PM
I recently was reading an article on the growing need for Registered Nurses "RN" and was astonished at the scope of need and opportunity. If you are in or looking to join the Healthcare Industry, what an opportunity for a great career and a little job security. Here is some information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics regarding the need and major employers of nurses.
"Hospitals employed the majority of RNs, with 59 percent of jobs. Other industries also employed large shares of workers. About 8 percent of jobs were in offices of physicians, 5 percent in home health care services, 5 percent in nursing care facilities, 4 percent in employment services, and 3 percent in outpatient care centers. The remainder worked mostly in government agencies, social assistance agencies, and educational services. About 21 percent of RNs worked part time." Can you imagine if 21% of your current industry worked part time? "Employment of registered nurses is expected to grow 23 percent from 2006 to 2016, much faster than the average for all occupations."
