Blog Post: Job Shadowing Day in Greater Miami
posted Wednesday, January 30, 2008 7:03 PM
This Friday, February 1 marks the beginning of Groundhog Job Shadowing Day, a national initiative of the U.S. Department of Labor design to encourage young adults to explore their future through career awareness and mentoring. The Job Shadowing gives kids an up-close look at the world of work and to answer the question, “Why do I have to learn this?” The students get to see firsthand how the skills learned in school relate to the workplace. Wouldn't’t you rather show students about the workforce instead of telling them? Job Shadowing is a year round initiative in Miami-Dade County and this is your opportunity to get involved.
The Jobing Foundation in partnership with the Greater Miami Society for Human Resource Management (GMSHRM) Workforce Readiness Committee will host students from several local educational organizations for a Job Shadowing Day experience. Human Resources professionals and industry specialist will have a forum to share their experience and career advice with local students interested in pursuing careers in those industries. Interested? Share your experiences, answer their questions, be a mentor for a day. Call today! Job Shadowing Day in Miami-Dade When: Friday, February 8, 2008 Where: Jobing.com, 6205 Blue Lagoon Drive #650 Janet Perales, Community Relations Manager, Jobing.com
