Job: Family Services Prevention Specialist - Hollywood

NATURE OF WORK
Work involves application of a variety of advanced diagnostic and assessment techniques including group methodologies and skill training within established policies and procedures. An incumbent in this position may also teach g skills through classes or group methods. Employees in this class perform with some autonomy and make independent judgments within established STOF policies and procedures.

_Implement twelve step recovery oriented programming adjunct to the Family Services Department.
_Coordinate and maintain the placement of twelve step recovery support groups on each reservation including maintaining contact with chair people from Hospitals and Institutions and related organizations, as well as coordinating all scheduling for meetings.
_Link clients with appropriate post treatment and aftercare resources
_Assist FSD counselors in the process of discharge planning with Tribal members completing residential treatment programs by providing information on home groups and temporary sponsors.
_Link clients with other Tribal Members who are in recovery. This also includes visitation of clients while they are in treatment.
_Facilitate, plan, promote, and attend 12 step recovery oriented activities, events and outings.
_Attend and participate in meetings inclusive of, but not limited to: treatment team, scheduling meetings, site staff meetings and monthly supervision.
_Participate in FSD community education and awareness activities, particularly those that deal with recovery, sobriety, and substance abuse prevention. This also includes the provision of training to FSD staff on aftercare services.
_Facilitate groups and individual sessions with clients as related to the provision of aftercare services.
_Document services provided and maintain up to date accurate records.

• Knowledge in the field of addictions recovery including experience with residential or outpatient programs, halfway houses, or related programming.
• Knowledge of STOF history, culture, services and operational policies and procedures.
• Ability to exemplify the highest of professional standards, ethics and to demonstrate appropriate, effective, empathic service delivery within the Seminole community.
• Skill in individual counseling, family counseling, and/or group counseling
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to prepare reports and accurate documentation using computer-based applications.
• Ability to serve the STOF tribal community with honesty and integrity.
• Computer literacy utilizing Microsoft software package and add-ins.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours as required by the position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. Educational requirement of a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the field of addictions recovery including experience with residential or outpatient programs, halfway houses, or related programming.
3. Minimum Substance Abuse Treatment Certification of CAS or equivalent
4. A working knowledge of twelve step recovery programs.
5. Valid Florida Driver’s License and good driving record.
6. Must be willing to work flexible hours and travel as required by the position.
7. Minimum of two (2) years recovery; if applicable.
8. Ability to pass background check as required by Tribal policy, Federal Law, and IHS and BIA contracts.
