Under direction of the Security Manager, plans, assigns, directs, and inspects the activities of the hospital's security personnel and other related duties as assigned. Provides first-level supervision, technical assistance and training. Responsible for assigning and directing the day-today activities of his/her shift. Duties are carried out within the framework of established policies, procedures and guidelines. Overall provides for maximum hospital coordination, safety and the preparation of records and reports.

*Responsible directly to the Security and Transportation Manager.
*Responds to and provides direction during emergency situations throughout the hospital. Conducts investigations on reported minor violations of rules and regulations.
*Conduct shift meetings on an as-needed basis but at least monthly. Ensures staff comply with applicable post orders, operating procedures, etc. as they relate to the daily functions and responsibilities of the security department.
*Directs and assists in the apprehension of eloped/escaped persons served, and coordinates these actions with local law enforcement agencies. Ensures that accurate reports and other documentation is completed by subordinates. Conducts inservice training as needed on security/safety procedures, measures, practices and procedures.
*Plans and implements adequate shift coverage. Prepares and completes review and performance evaluation documents of subordinate staff within the specified time frames. Supervises Shift Lieutenants on a daily basis. Directs and assists in the security checks of buildings, doors, windows, locks, fences and alarm systems.
*Responsible for daily operations of the department in the absence of the Security Manager.
*Demonstrates understanding of risk management program, environmental checks, seclusion/ restraint, and disaster procedures.
*Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues, treats person served as an individual, and considers the culture of the person served.
*Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and regulations.
*Assists in the strategic planning for the department and helps set priorities.
*Prepares records and PI reports as assigned.
*Monitors daily log and shift reports.
*Serves as a role model for subordinates and on an on-going basis informs and ensures staff adheres to GEO care/SFSH Code of Conduct standards.
*Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills / Requirements
*Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Business Administration or a related field prefered.
*A minimum of three years experience working in a healthcare or institutional setting, one of which must have been in a position requiring supervisory responsibilities.
*Must possess valid Florida driver's license with no preventable accidents, suspensions for driving convictions, Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or more than two (2) moving violations on any type of vehicle for the past three (3) years.
