Job: Housekeeper

Housekeepers are responsible for cleaning common areas and resident room/apartments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
* Ensure that common areas, including guest restrooms, are clean, neat and free of odor
* Maintain an organized housekeeping cart complete with all needed items
* Ensures that common areas and resident rooms/apartments are cleaned according to schedule. This includes but is not limited to the following; vacuuming all carpeted areas, dusting all furniture, handrails, and hanging pictures, cleaning glass surfaces, cleaning doors, doorways, and walls of fingerprints or other dirt, vacuuming upholstery furniture according to schedule, cleaning and disinfecting common areas and resident bathrooms, sanitizing and disinfecting soiled utility bins according to schedule, cleaning and organizing laundry areas and storage closets according to schedule
* Ensure that housekeeping carts and other supplies are in a safe area as to prevent any injuries to residents, associates, or visitors
* Ensure that hazardous cleaning products are properly stored and labeled. Ensure compliance with OSHA, MSDS, and the community policies and procedures
* Maintain availability to residents, management, staff, and families on a regular predictable basis following a prescribed schedule agreed upon with the Executive Director
* Attend required meetings and training programs
* Show respect for residents, staff and family members at all times and work with residents who may become confused, hostile or combative. Observe residents closely and report any unusual behavior to the appropriate staff immediately
* Maintain thorough knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures and assists as needed. Understanding and communicating fire and emergency procedures, hazardous materials, MSDS, and Community safety precautions
* Performs other duties as requested

Part Time position

Must be at least 18 years of age to handle equipment other than the washing/drying machines
* Previous laundry experience helpful


NOTE:

Part-time may include individuals 15 years of age (with a work permit). These individuals have limited work schedules based on state requirements and may not handle any potentially hazardous equipment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Working knowledge of OSHA standards, fire and safety procedures, HACCP regulations, as well as knowledge of state regulations
* Written & oral communication skills required
* Available to work day and occasional evening shifts and weekends
* Completion of state specific required training
