Job Description

Job Summary:
Coordinates and delivers patient care utilizing clinical competencies in adherence to nursing processes. Assess and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, and implements and evaluates nursing care for the patient/resident. Oversees the work Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nurse Assistants. Provides training as required.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
•Assesses physical, psycho-social, growth and development dimensions of the patient per established department guidelines, policies and procedures
•Participates in the development of the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care as per policy
•Implements nursing plans of care for assigned patients
•Evaluates patient status, nursing interventions, and appropriateness of the nursing plan of care
•Administers medication according to department standards
•Documents patient care activities performed on the unit
•Provides teaching and guidance to the patient and significant others
•Oversees and assists with nursing staff in their development
•Oversees the work of LPN’s and CNAs and guide them in their daily activities
•Provide coaching to CNA’s and participate in their annual performance appraisal
•Maintains a safe working environment

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred

Long term care or acute experience preferred

•Current RN license by the Florida State Board of Nursing
•BLS required
•ACLS preferred

Abilities Required:
•Knowledge of nursing care practices for rehabilitation, geriatric and dementia patient populations preferred
•Demonstrates a caring attitude toward MJHS residents, patients, family members, employees and other facility guests

Working Conditions:

Environment Work Conditions:

•Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation
•Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; bio-hazardous waste; flammable, explosive gas
•Ability to assist transferring patients and ambulation which may involve lifting, pushing and pulling of patients from 50-150 pounds

Infectious Material Exposure:
Routine exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues
